My Sister's Jealousy Cost Me the Man I Was Supposed to Marry

Good morning, EUCARL readers. I have carried this pain in silence for so long that even writing these words feels like opening an old wound. A friend introduced me to this platform, and after reading the stories and responses here, I finally found the courage to speak about something that has broken my heart in ways I never thought possible. People often say losing one’s parents is the greatest pain a person can endure. I believed that too, until I learned that betrayal by the sister you trusted most can hurt even more. I am 31 years old, the second of five girls. We lost our mother first, then our father a few years later. We grew up fast, with no parents to guide us. Our eldest sister became the head of the family, but instead of keeping us united, she allowed jealousy and division to grow. We stopped being sisters and became strangers. Still, I worked hard to build a better life. Then I met a man who was kind, respectful, and loving. For the first time in years, I felt at home again. When he proposed, I cried with joy. I could not wait to introduce him to my sisters. That was my mistake. One sister suddenly became very involved in my relationship. She called often, asked for updates, and offered to help with the wedding. I thought she was excited for me. Instead, she was destroying everything. Without my knowledge, she contacted my fiancé repeatedly and poisoned his mind against me. She told him I was after his money, that I was cheating, and that I was pretending to love him. Fake accounts, edited screenshots, and false messages followed. Slowly, he began to doubt me. One day he asked, “Tell me the truth... Is your sister covering up your affairs?” I was shattered. I confronted my sisters, but no one admitted anything. Our eldest sister refused to get involved and told us to settle it ourselves. Months later, the wedding was cancelled. He said he still loved me, but he no longer had peace. I was devastated. Then, six months later, the truth came out during an argument. My sister admitted everything. She said she was jealous because I was the first among us to marry a good man. She confessed to creating fake accounts, spreading lies, and ruining my relationship. When I confronted her, she simply said, “I was jealous.” Just two words. Two words that destroyed my future. The worst part is that our eldest sister still says we should move on because “she has apologized.” But can an apology bring back the man I lost? Can it erase the pain? Last year, my ex got married. I wished him well, then cried until morning. We are still five sisters, but we are no longer a family. Sometimes I wonder if losing our parents was not the real tragedy. Maybe the real tragedy was losing each other too. If your own sibling deliberately destroyed your relationship out of jealousy, would you ever forgive them... or are there some betrayals that should never be forgiven?

Should I Trust a Man Who Says His "Wife" Is Only for Papers?

I am 27 years old, and for the past eight months, a man has been treating me like the woman of his dreams. He pays my bills without complaining. He checks on me every day. He speaks about our future with so much confidence that sometimes I catch myself believing every single word. The problem? He is 48 years old... and he is currently living in Canada with another woman. According to him, that woman is only helping him with his papers. He says they have been living together for years, but insists there is nothing between them anymore. He keeps telling me, "Once I come back to Nigeria, I'll end everything there and marry you properly." I want to believe him. But my heart refuses to rest. If she truly means nothing to him, why are they still living together after all these years? Sometimes I wonder if I am being prepared to become a second option without realizing it. My family keeps encouraging me because he is financially comfortable. They tell me a responsible man is hard to find and that I shouldn't overthink it. But this is my life, not theirs. The age difference also scares me. He is old enough to be much further ahead in life, while I am still trying to build mine. I keep asking myself whether I am walking into love... or walking into a lifetime of regret. I don't want to become the woman another woman cries because of. I don't want to spend my marriage wondering who my husband is really calling or where his heart truly belongs. Yet, I also fear that I might walk away from someone who genuinely loves me and has been nothing but kind to me. So I'm asking strangers because emotions are making it difficult for me to think clearly... If you were in my shoes, would you wait for him and trust his promises... or would you walk away before it's too late?

My Boyfriend Says She's 'Just a Friend'... So Why Do I Feel Like the Other Woman?"

Good evening everyone. I want to drop this here cos I am no longer comfortable in my relationship. I am a woman in my early thirties, and for the past two years, I have been in what I believed was a beautiful relationship. My boyfriend is hardworking, responsible, and treats me well in many ways. Everyone who knows him says I am lucky to have him. But there is one issue that has been slowly destroying my peace of mind. He has a female best friend. According to him, they grew up together and have been friends since childhood. He always says, "She is like my sister." At first, I accepted it because I didn't want to be that jealous girlfriend who controls every friendship. I kept telling myself to mature and trust him. But as time went on, I started noticing things that didn't sit well with me. They talk every single day without fail. Morning calls, afternoon chats, late-night conversations... sometimes they stay on the phone longer than he talks to me. There are days I call him and his line is busy for almost an hour, only for him to tell me he was talking to her. Whenever it's her birthday, he buys expensive gifts and posts long emotional birthday messages about how lucky he is to have her in his life. Yet on my own birthday, I got a simple "Happy Birthday, babe" and a small cake. I smiled, but deep down, it hurt. One evening, while we were watching a movie together, his phone lit up. I wasn't even trying to snoop, but the notification popped up on the screen. "I miss you so much." My heart literally skipped. I calmly asked who sent the message. Instead of reassuring me, he immediately became defensive. He snatched his phone, raised his voice, and accused me of invading his privacy. He said, "If you don't trust me, then this relationship has no future." Just like that, I became the problem. Since then, anytime I bring up her name, he gets angry. He says I should stop being insecure and that I am trying to destroy an innocent friendship. But honestly... if she is truly just a sister, why does she miss him so much? Why do they need to talk every day? Why does he protect her feelings more than mine? Sometimes I wonder if I am the girlfriend or if I am simply occupying a position that already belongs to someone else emotionally. The funny thing is that I have never told him to stop talking to her. I only asked him to set healthy boundaries because I believe every serious relationship deserves respect. Instead, he says I am controlling. Now I hardly sleep peacefully. Anytime his phone rings at night, my heart starts racing. Whenever he says he is going out, I find myself wondering if she will be there. I hate feeling this way because this isn't the kind of woman I used to be. I love this man, and I have been hoping we would settle down someday. But I don't know if I can spend the rest of my life competing with another woman for attention, even if everyone keeps calling her "just a friend." Please tell me honestly... Am I overreacting, or are my fears valid? Ladies, would you accept this kind of friendship if you were in my shoes? Men, if your girlfriend had a male best friend who called every day, bought her gifts, and sent her messages saying "I miss you," would you honestly be comfortable with it? I really need sincere advice because I feel like I'm slowly losing my peace... and maybe my relationship too.

I Never Thought Love Would Force Me to Choose Between My Child and My Future

Good morning, EUCARL readers. I am a 29-year-old single mother from Nigeria. Five years ago, I got pregnant for my ex-boyfriend, but the relationship ended before I gave birth. I was left to face the pregnancy alone, and after my daughter was born, her father completely disappeared from our lives. Since then, my mother has been helping me raise my little girl, who is now four years old. About three years ago, I met an amazing man through a mutual friend. We became close, started dating, and for the first time in a long while, I felt like God had finally remembered me. He knew from the very beginning that I had a daughter. It was never a secret. He visited my family, played with her, bought her toys on her birthdays, and even took pictures with her. Everyone around me believed he had accepted both of us. Throughout these three years, we talked about marriage several times. He promised me that once things became stable in his career, we would settle down together. I believed every word because he treated me with love and respect. Last weekend, he came to my house with exciting news. His company had offered him a permanent transfer to Canada. The promotion comes with a much better salary, accommodation, and the opportunity to apply for permanent residency in the future. I was genuinely happy for him because I felt this would finally be our breakthrough. Then he said something that completely shattered me. He told me he wanted me to relocate with him to Canada so we could start our lives together. I smiled immediately because I thought he meant all three of us. But he quickly stopped me. He said my daughter shouldn't come with us. According to him, I should leave her in Nigeria with my mother because he doesn't want to raise another man's child. He said he wants us to have a fresh start and build our own family without any "complications." He insisted that my daughter would be fine with her grandmother since she has been helping to care for her all these years. I honestly thought he was joking. I reminded him that he has known about my daughter from the very first day we met. I asked him why he suddenly saw her as a problem after three years together. He simply said there is a difference between being nice to a child and accepting the responsibility of raising another man's daughter. I cried and begged him to reconsider. I even told him I wasn't asking him to replace her father. I only wanted him to accept that my daughter is part of me, and wherever I go, she goes too. He refused. Now he has given me until the end of this week to make my decision. He said if I truly love him, I should choose our future together in Canada. If I insist on taking my daughter with me, he would rather relocate alone and end the relationship. Since that conversation, I haven't been myself. Every night I look at my little girl sleeping peacefully beside me, and I break down in tears. She has already been abandoned once by her biological father. How can I become the second person to walk away from her? When I told my mother everything, she became furious. She said no man who genuinely loves a woman would ever ask her to choose between him and her own child. She warned me that if I abandon my daughter today because of a man, I may spend the rest of my life living with regret. But some of my friends think differently. They keep saying opportunities to relocate to Canada don't come every day. They say I should go first, settle down, and maybe bring my daughter later if things improve. They believe I shouldn't throw away a serious relationship because of emotions. Now I feel completely torn. I love this man deeply, and I have invested three years of my life into this relationship. At the same time, my daughter is my blood, my responsibility, and the reason I keep fighting every day. I honestly don't know how any mother can choose a man over her child, but I also fear losing the man I planned to spend the rest of my life with. Please, EUCARL readers, if you were in my shoes, what would you do? Should I follow the man I love and hope things get better later, or should I stay with my daughter and let the relationship end? I truly need your sincere advice because this decision could change the rest of my life.

I Keep Calling My Boyfriend by My Ex's Name... And It's Destroying Our Relationship

This my first in this platform, I want to unburden my concerns here. I'm crying as I type this because I honestly don't know what else to do. I've been dating an incredible man for the past eight months. It's a long-distance relationship, and although we've never met in person, we've spent countless hours talking on the phone, texting, praying together, laughing, and making plans for our future. I love this man with all my heart. But one mistake keeps coming back to haunt me, and I fear it's about to cost me the person I want to spend my life with. A few months into our relationship, I accidentally called him by my ex's name during one of our phone conversations. The moment the name left my mouth, I froze. He was hurt, but I apologized over and over. I explained that it wasn't intentional and begged him to understand. I genuinely believed it was just an old habit that would disappear with time. Unfortunately, it happened again. And then... after months of trying to be more careful, it happened again last week. This time, he completely shut down. He told me he no longer trusts me. He believes no woman repeatedly calls the man she loves by another man's name unless she's still emotionally attached or secretly talking to him. I understand why he feels that way. If the roles were reversed, I honestly don't know how I would react either. But here's the painful truth... I have absolutely no feelings for my ex. None. My previous relationship was also long-distance. Just like my current one, we never met physically. Everything happened through phone calls and messages. When that relationship ended, I blocked my ex everywhere, deleted his number, and completely moved on. We don't talk. We don't text. We have no contact whatsoever. That's why I'm struggling to understand what's happening. Why does that name still slip out? Is my brain confusing familiar phone conversations because both relationships happened the same way? Is it just muscle memory? Or is there something psychological that I don't understand? I'm not trying to make excuses. I'm trying to save my relationship. Every apology I make now sounds like another lie to him. Every explanation makes him more suspicious. It's like no matter what I say, I've already been judged. The worst part is knowing that one careless word can erase months of loyalty, honesty, and genuine love. I'm exhausted. I'm frustrated. And I'm terrified that I'll lose someone I truly love over something I never meant to do. Please, I need honest advice. Has anyone genuinely experienced something like this before? Why do these name slips happen even when you've completely moved on?

I Thought God Was Redirecting Me... Now I Don't Know If I Ruined My Own Life.

I have been in a relationship with my fiancé for almost three years. We had already picked a wedding date, our families had met, and preparations were in full swing. Everyone around me kept saying I was lucky to have found such a calm and responsible man. But for months, something kept disturbing my heart. Whenever I prayed about my future, I would remember someone from my past. It wasn't because I still loved him. In fact, I was the one who ended our relationship because he was too jealous and wanted to control every aspect of my life. Yet somehow, his face kept showing up in my dreams. It happened so often that I began wondering if God was trying to tell me something. Then something happened that made my confusion even worse. One evening, an old coursemate called me and casually mentioned that she had seen my ex at a wedding. She joked that she thought we would eventually end up together because "some people always find their way back." I laughed it off, but those words stayed in my mind. Less than two weeks later, my ex sent me a message after years without any contact. He apologized for everything that happened between us and admitted he had never stopped thinking about me. I ignored him at first because I was engaged, but he kept reaching out respectfully until I finally agreed to meet him just to hear him out. That meeting changed everything. He looked more mature, more patient, and very different from the man I remembered. We started talking often, and before I knew it, all the feelings I thought had died years ago came rushing back. I convinced myself that maybe this was the direction God wanted me to take. I told my fiancé I needed more time before getting married. He was heartbroken but respected my decision. We postponed the wedding, and I officially ended things with him. I became serious with my ex, believing I had made the right choice. Then reality hit me. A few days ago, while he was taking a shower, his phone kept buzzing. I wasn't even trying to spy, but I saw messages from different women calling him "baby" and making plans to see him. My heart dropped. When I confronted him, he insisted they were only friends. Instead of listening, I lost my temper. I shouted, insulted him, and accused him of pretending to have changed. Since that day, he has become someone I hardly recognize. He no longer calls first. Whenever I call, his answers are short and emotionless. I have apologized several times, but he keeps saying I embarrassed him and that maybe we rushed into getting back together. Now I feel trapped. I walked away from a man who genuinely loved me because I believed I was following God's direction. Now the man I chose is slowly pulling away, and the man I left has already started moving on with his life. I honestly don't know whether to keep fighting for this relationship, try to make peace with my former fiancé, or simply accept that I created this mess myself. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Love or Stability... Should I Marry the Man I Love or the Man Who Can Provide?

I have been with my boyfriend for five years. I am 29 years old, and he is 33. If you asked anyone who knows him, they would tell you he is a good man. He is faithful. He doesn't drink or smoke. He treats me with so much love and respect that my friends often tell me I'm lucky. His family has accepted me completely. His mother even introduces me as her daughter. On paper, he is everything a woman could pray for. But there is one problem that has slowly become impossible for me to ignore. He cannot seem to find financial stability. Over the last three years, he has changed jobs four different times. Every time he resigns, there is a reason. One boss was too disrespectful. Another salary was too small. Another workplace was too toxic. According to him, every job has failed to meet the standards he believes he deserves. The painful part is that he is not uneducated or lazy. He studied Accounting and even earned a professional qualification. He is intelligent, hardworking, and capable. Yet he constantly believes every opportunity is beneath him. While he keeps searching for the "right" opportunity, life has not stopped. Almost every financial responsibility has fallen on me. I run a small provisions store. It isn't a big business, but it has become the only thing keeping us afloat. My business pays our rent, buys food, settles bills, and handles emergencies. Sometimes I lie awake at night wondering how I ended up carrying the weight of two adults. Whenever I suggest that he temporarily accept a smaller job while continuing to search for something better, he gets upset. He says I am undermining him and that I don't understand his value. He always says, "I know my worth." But what is the value of knowing your worth if you cannot build a stable life? Five years have passed, yet we are no closer to marriage than we were when we first started dating. There have been no serious discussions about paying my bride price or building a future together because financially, he simply isn't ready. Lately, I have started asking myself questions that make me feel guilty. How long am I supposed to keep waiting? How many more years should I continue carrying this burden alone? Recently, another man came into the picture. He is 45 years old, a civil servant with a stable income and his own house. He has made his intentions very clear. He wants to marry me. He has promised to support my business, provide a comfortable life, and even help my family whenever they are in need. Any woman looking from the outside would probably tell me the choice is obvious. But it isn't. Because I don't love him. I don't feel excited when I see him. I don't miss him when he is gone. I don't picture my future with him. My heart still belongs to the man I have loved for the past five years. That is what is tearing me apart. Do I stay with the man I genuinely love, hoping that one day everything will finally work out? Or do I walk away from the man who owns my heart and marry someone who can give me financial security, stability, and the future I have always dreamed of? I am terrified of making the wrong decision. I fear leaving my boyfriend and spending the rest of my life regretting losing a genuinely kind man. But I also fear staying... only to wake up at 35, unmarried, with no children, emotionally exhausted, and wondering where all my best years went. Please, I need sincere advice.

I Found Out My Fiancé Is Already Married

I honestly thought I was about to marry the love of my life. We dated for almost three years. He was caring. Responsible. Everyone in my family liked him. He had already paid my bride price introduction list and we were fixing a date for our traditional marriage. I couldn't wait to become his wife. Then one afternoon, I got a phone call from an unknown woman. She asked if I knew a man called ***** I laughed and told her, "That's my fiancé." There was silence for a few seconds. Then she said something that made my whole body weak. She said, "He's my husband." At first, I thought it was one of those jealous ex-girlfriends trying to destroy my relationship. I even insulted her and ended the call. A few minutes later, she sent me pictures. Wedding pictures. Not just one or two. There were plenty. Pictures with both families. Pictures in church. Pictures of them cutting their wedding cake. Then she sent videos. After that came pictures of two little children calling him Daddy. I still refused to believe it. I confronted him immediately. Instead of denying it, he just kept begging me to calm down so he could explain. According to him, the marriage had "ended a long time ago," but they were still legally married because they hadn't finalized the divorce. Then his wife sent me another message. She said they still lived together. She even sent me a picture of his clothes hanging in their bedroom that same day. I didn't know who to believe anymore. The man I trusted with my future suddenly became a complete stranger. Our wedding is supposed to be in less than two months. My family has already spent money. Invitations are almost ready. Some of my friends have already bought clothes for the wedding. Part of me wants to walk away immediately. Another part of me keeps wondering if there's any truth to what he's saying. I don't even know what to believe anymore. If you were in my shoes... Would you cancel the wedding immediately? Or would you hear him out first?

Opening Doors Isn’t the Love Language I Need

We haven’t been dating for very long, but there’s already something about this relationship that has been bothering me. He lives quite far from me, so whenever I want to visit him, he usually tells me to get an Uber. I’ll pay for the ride to his place, and when it’s time to leave, I’ll order another Uber and pay for that one too. What makes it confusing is that he acts caring in his own way. When I arrive, he’ll open the Uber door for me and help me get out. When I’m leaving, he’ll open the door again and make sure I get in properly. Sometimes, he’ll even tell the driver to drive carefully and make sure I get home safely. But he has never once offered to pay for my Uber. I honestly don’t know how to feel about it. I’m not expecting him to fund my entire life or pay for everything whenever we go out. But if I’m travelling all the way to see someone I’m dating, is it really too much to expect him to occasionally handle the transportation? At some point, I started wondering if I was being unreasonable. Maybe this is just his way of showing care, and maybe he genuinely doesn’t see anything wrong with me paying for my own transportation. But for me, the effort feels incomplete. Opening the car door is nice, and telling the driver to be careful is thoughtful, but those things don’t mean much to me when I’m the one constantly paying to get there and get back. These days, I’ve stopped visiting him altogether. I don't want to keep spending money going to someone who doesn't seem to consider the cost of getting there. Would I be asking for too much if I simply told him, “When I come to visit you, I’d appreciate it if you could take care of my Uber fare”? Or is this actually a red flag that I shouldn’t ignore? Because honestly, opening doors and telling the driver to drive carefully aren't love languages I understand.

Is It Cheating If Her Divorce Isn’t Final?

I’m currently dating a woman who is going through a divorce, and honestly, I’m confused about where I stand. She has been separated from her husband for some time now, and according to her, the marriage is practically over. The divorce process has started, but the papers have not been finalized yet. She keeps telling me that emotionally, she has moved on and that I’m the person she wants to be with. The problem is that things are getting serious between us. We have become very close, and there is a strong attraction between us. Recently, we started talking about becoming intimate, but something inside me keeps saying I should slow down. I know she is technically still married, and I don’t want to become the man people will say entered another person's marriage. She keeps saying, “My marriage is already finished. Na only paper remain.” I understand what she means, but at the same time, I keep asking myself if that really changes anything. What if her husband finds out? What if the divorce process suddenly becomes complicated because of what happened between us? I don't want to enter a relationship that will later come with plenty wahala. I genuinely care about this woman, and I don't want to treat her like someone who is only available because her marriage is struggling. But I also don't want to deny my feelings when we both know there is something real between us. So I'm honestly asking people here: Would it be considered cheating if we became intimate while her divorce is still ongoing? Should I wait until the divorce is completely finalized before taking that step, or is it reasonable to consider her marriage already over because they are separated and the divorce is in progress? I need honest opinions because I don't want to make one decision now and spend the next few years regretting it. Na serious matter, and I honestly don't know where to draw the line.

I Funded His Future, Then He Married Someone Else

When I met my boyfriend, he was struggling financially but had big dreams. He wanted to finish his degree and build a better life for himself. I was already working, so whenever he needed help with registration, fees, accommodation or even food, I helped. Eventually, I was paying almost everything because I believed we were building a future together. He always told me that once he graduated and got a job, he'd never forget everything I'd done for him. I supported him for years. There were times I couldn't afford things for myself because I had to make sure he had what he needed for school. When he finally graduated, I was probably more proud than anyone. I genuinely thought the next step would be for us to get married. Instead, he started becoming distant. Then one day I found out he was engaged to another woman. I couldn't understand how the man whose degree I had helped pay for could suddenly build his future with someone else. He told me that he appreciated everything I'd done, but that love wasn't something he could repay me for. I feel stupid because I wasn't helping him because I expected a salary or a reward I did it because I loved him and believed he was my future husband. Now he's married, has a good job and the life we once talked about. I confronted him and asked him how he could do this after everything I'd sacrificed. I even asked him to at least pay me back some of the money I'd spent on his education because I'm currently struggling financially and he has a good job now. His response broke me. He said, "I never asked you to do those things for me." Then he blocked me everywhere. No apology, no repayment, nothing. Now I'm sitting here struggling while he is living the life we once planned together. Sometimes I get so angry that I have thoughts I don't even recognise as my own. I have caught myself thinking about doing something to ruin his happiness or even consulting someone to make his life miserable, and that scares me because I've never been that kind of person. Then I remember that destroying his life won't give me back the years, money or opportunities I sacrificed. I'll never heal from this one. 💔

My boyfriend family is frustrating our relationship

I’m sharing this anonymously because I honestly don’t know what else to do. My boyfriend and I love each other deeply. We’ve been through a lot together, and despite everything that has happened, we still choose each other every day. The problem is that his family seems determined to make our relationship as difficult as possible. At first, I tried my best to understand them. I respected his parents, kept my distance when necessary, and avoided unnecessary arguments. But over time, I started noticing that almost everything I did was being judged or misunderstood. His sisters, honestly, are the worst. They constantly interfere in our relationship. They make comments about me, question his decisions whenever they involve me, and sometimes create problems between us over things that shouldn't even concern them. It feels like they don't want their brother to have a life with someone outside the family. The frustrating part is that my boyfriend knows exactly what is happening. He tells me he loves me and doesn't want to lose me, but sometimes I feel like he struggles to stand up to his family. Whenever they cause a problem, we end up arguing about it, even though neither of us actually wants to fight. There have been moments when I've wondered if loving someone is enough when their family constantly makes you feel unwanted. I don't hate his parents or his sisters. I just wish they would understand that our relationship belongs to us. They don't have to like every decision we make, but they should respect that we are two people who genuinely love each other. My boyfriend and I have talked about our future, and I still believe in us. I just don't know how long we can keep fighting the same battle. Sometimes the person you're trying to build a future with isn't the problem. It's everyone around them who keeps putting obstacles in the way. I love him dearly, and I know he loves me too. I just hope one day his family realizes that trying to break us apart won't make him love them more—it will only hurt everyone involved.

HE WANTS ME TO CONVERT FOR OUR LOVE, BUT HE DOESN’T EVEN TAKE HIS OWN FAITH SERIOUSLY

My boyfriend and I have always known that our relationship has one major problem: religion. I was raised in a deeply Muslim home where Islam was not just something we identified with; it was a way of life. Wearing the hijab, praying five times a day, reciting the Quran, observing religious teachings and respecting the doctrines of our faith were things my siblings and I were taught from childhood. I have never had to question who I am religiously because being Muslim is all I have ever known. Then I met Daniel(don't want to use his real name). We have been together for a year, but ours is already a complicated relationship because we are in a long-distance relationship. In that entire year, he has only seen me three times, yet somehow he has developed so much confidence in our future that sometimes I wonder if he sees something I don't. He talks about marriage, children and building a life together as though everything has already been decided. The biggest issue is that Daniel is Christian, and he believes we cannot build a lasting marriage while being unequally yoked. At first, I thought he was simply asking us to find a compromise, but lately, he has been making it clear that he expects me to consider Christianity. He talks about us becoming "equally yoked" as though converting is a simple decision I can make for the sake of love. And honestly, that scares me. How do I abandon the faith I was raised in just because I love someone? Islam is not a dress I can take off today and put back on tomorrow. It is connected to my family, my upbringing, my identity and everything I have believed since childhood. If I convert, it wouldn't just be a relationship decision; it would change a huge part of who I am. What makes me even more confused is that Daniel himself isn't exactly the most serious Christian. He doesn't consistently practise his faith the way he expects me to practise his. Sometimes I find myself thinking, How are you asking me to become deeply committed to Christianity when you aren't even deeply committed to being a Christian yourself? I love him, and I don't want religion to be the reason we lose each other. But I also don't want to wake up years from now and realise I gave up something so important to me just to keep a relationship alive. Daniel seems convinced that love will eventually make everything work out. I'm not so sure anymore. Because the question isn't simply whether I love him enough to convert. The question is whether I should have to give up my faith to prove that I love him. And lately, I've started wondering if we're trying to force a future that was never meant to happen in the first place.

My Past Relationship is now my torment.

About seven months ago, I ended my relationship with my girlfriend after months of constant conflicts. She was controlling, often difficult to reason with, and our calls would frequently end in arguments. Financial issues also became a major source of tension. I tried my best to fulfil the promises I made, but when I delayed, she told me there were other men who could provide for her without complaining. That broke something in me, and I decided to walk away. Before we broke up, we had unprotected sex several times, and she had once told me she wanted me to get her pregnant. The day after one of those encounters, I ended the relationship and moved on with my life. Now, seven months later, she has called me claiming that she is seven months pregnant with my child. She says she knew I would have opposed terminating the pregnancy, so she decided to tell her current boyfriend that the child was his. He is a married man with children and has apparently been taking care of her throughout the pregnancy. Honestly, I don't know what to believe. If the child is mine, why did she wait seven months to tell me, especially knowing how much she once wanted a future with me? At the same time, I can't completely dismiss the possibility because of the timing. I'm now in a committed relationship, and I'm terrified that this situation could destroy everything I've built. But if that child is truly mine, I also can't run away from my responsibility. I'm stuck between doubt, fear and guilt. What would you honestly do in my position?

I Want Marriage, But She Wants Us to “Leave It to God”

Good evening. Please keep me anonymous and notify me when this is posted. I have been dating my girlfriend for almost six years, and honestly, I thought that by now we would be having serious conversations about marriage. I am 34, she is 29, and I have a stable job. I am at a stage in my life where I genuinely want to settle down and build a home. Last year, I told her that I wanted to formally meet her family because I didn't want us to continue dating without knowing where the relationship was headed. Instead of giving me a clear answer, she started giving me different reasons. At different times, she told me she wasn't ready for marriage, that her family wanted her to marry someone from their tribe, and that she wasn't comfortable with the Catholic Church and its way of worship, especially because I am Catholic. She also said she wanted to finish her studies and become financially stable before thinking about marriage. I tried to understand her and decided to give her some space instead of constantly putting pressure on her. Surprisingly, she started telling some of my friends that I had abandoned her and was no longer serious about the relationship. I was confused because I never told anyone that I was leaving her. I only stepped back because I was trying to respect the concerns she herself had raised whenever I brought up marriage. A few months later, we met again, and I reminded her that I still love her and that my intention has always been to marry her. I explained that I only became distant because I was tired of receiving different reasons whenever I tried to move the relationship forward. Her response still didn't give me peace. She wants us to forget about all the issues and continue as if nothing happened. She keeps saying that we should leave everything in God's hands and see how things go. But after almost six years together, I am honestly tired of being confused. I am not asking her to get married tomorrow. I simply want to know whether we are genuinely working towards marriage or whether we are just wasting each other's time. I love this woman, and that is why I have stayed for this long. But I also don't want to spend more years waiting for someone who is still unsure about me and about our future together. Please, I need sincere advice. What should I do?

I Trusted My Roommate With My Life—She Secretly Recorded Me

Hi EUCARL, I am writing to share an experience that has been deeply distressing and completely unexpected from someone I once considered a close friend. I moved in with my roommate because we were very close at the time. I trusted her completely. We shared meals, clothing, personal challenges, relationship issues, and nearly every aspect of our daily lives. I felt safe around her and never imagined I had anything to fear from someone I regarded as a sister.I was wrong. One day, I received a message from someone I barely knew. They told me they had come across a video of me online and asked if I was aware of it. At first, I assumed it was a joke or some form of scam. However, when I opened the link, my heart sank. It was me. I was in a private moment, completely unaware that I was being recorded. I had never given anyone permission to record me, let alone share such footage online. I immediately confronted my roommate. Initially, she denied any involvement and acted as though she had no idea what I was referring to. However, after repeated confrontation, she eventually admitted the truth. She had deliberately positioned her phone to record me. Her reason was that we had an argument, and she intended to embarrass me. By the time I discovered what had happened, the video had already been downloaded and circulated by others. I felt violated, humiliated, and deeply betrayed. For several days, I struggled to leave my home. Going to work became difficult as I constantly worried about who had seen the video. Every phone notification triggered anxiety, and I withdrew from communication because I felt ashamed to face people. But the truth is, I was not the one who should have felt ashamed. I did not consent to being recorded. I did not consent to the video being shared. My only mistake was trusting someone I believed was my friend. Eventually, I moved out and reported the matter. There is currently a pending case against her, and I am hoping for justice. However, even if the video is eventually removed from the internet, the emotional impact may take much longer to heal. The most painful part is not only the violation of my privacy, but the realization that the person responsible was someone I lived with, shared meals with, confided in, and trusted deeply. This experience has taught me a lesson I will never forget: Be extremely careful about who you trust, especially those you live with. Sometimes, the person closest to you has the greatest access to your private life. Unfortunately, not everyone deserves that level of trust. I am sharing my story in the hope that others can learn from it and avoid experiencing something similar. Have you ever discovered that someone you trusted was secretly betraying you? What did you do?

My Boyfriend Wants a Baby, But I’m Waiting for a Job That Could Change My Life

I’m a 25-year-old university student currently in Level 200, second semester, and I’m expected to move to Level 300 soon. I’m in a relationship with a 30-year-old man who is also a university student. He is currently in his final year studying Law. Recently, my boyfriend started talking seriously about marriage and having children. His plan is for me to get pregnant, and within the first or second month of the pregnancy, he would come to pay my bride price. We would have the traditional marriage first and later complete the legal marriage at the court. At first, I didn’t know how to feel about it because I love him, but the more I think about it, the more confused I become. I’m the first child in my family, and I come from a financially struggling background. There are already many responsibilities on my shoulders. My grandfather had a child with another woman before she passed away, and that child is currently being raised by my mother and me. So, even though I’m still a student, I already have family responsibilities that I cannot ignore. At the moment, I earn about ₦150,000 a month, while my boyfriend earns around ₦400,000. He has even offered to give me ₦2,000,000 to start a business so that I can have another source of income. The problem is that I honestly don’t know what business to start, and I don’t want to rush into something simply because I’m being given money. There is also another opportunity I’m holding on to. I applied for all four of the security services, and thankfully, I passed the medical examinations. Unfortunately, I wasn’t selected for the first batch. I’ve been told there may be a second batch in November, so I’ve been hoping to wait and see if I get selected. Getting one of those jobs would completely change my situation. It could help me support my family, continue my education, become financially independent and build a more secure future for myself. But my boyfriend doesn’t want to wait until November. He says he loves me and wants us to settle down now. He wants us to get married and start having children rather than continuing to postpone our plans. He believes that we can build our lives together and that I shouldn’t allow the uncertainty of a job opportunity to delay our future. I understand his point, and I love him. I also appreciate the fact that he is willing to support me financially and has even offered me ₦2,000,000 to start a business. But I’m scared. What happens if I become pregnant now and the security service opportunity comes through in November? Will I still be able to take the job? Will pregnancy, marriage and motherhood make it difficult for me to continue my education or pursue the career I want? I also keep asking myself whether accepting ₦2,000,000 to start a business is enough reason to bring a child into the world right now. What if the business fails? What if his income changes? What if we struggle financially after having the baby? I don’t want to make a decision based only on love or fear of losing him. At the same time, I don’t want to reject a man who genuinely wants to marry me and build a family with me. My biggest fear is that I may sacrifice an opportunity that could change my life, only to regret it later. My boyfriend says he doesn’t want to wait. I feel I need at least until November to know what happens with the security service recruitment before making such a major decision. I love this man, but I also have dreams, responsibilities and a future I’m trying to build. Am I being selfish by asking him to wait, or should I prioritize marriage and starting a family with the man I love?

My Boyfriend Changed His Mind About My Pregnancy, and Now He Wants Me to Abort

I am pregnant for my boyfriend, and when I told him, he said there was no problem and that he would do the necessary things this December. He said the only issue was that his family would not be happy because he got me pregnant when we are not married. I was happy because I thought he was ready to stand by me, but suddenly, his attitude changed. He is now asking me to remove the pregnancy, saying he is not ready to take responsibility for the child. I have refused because I believe a child is a gift from God, and there are many couples out there praying and waiting for this same blessing. I know things may not be easy if he decides to leave me alone, but I do not want to make a decision out of fear or pressure. His sudden change has left me confused and deeply hurt. I keep wondering what happened to all the promises he made when I first told him. I never expected the man who initially assured me to become the person pressuring me to terminate the pregnancy. I have tried talking to him calmly, but he keeps insisting that he is not ready. I understand that raising a child is a huge responsibility, but I also believe that fear should not be the only reason for such a serious decision. I am scared of what the future holds if he walks away. At the same time, I do not want to live with regret because I allowed someone else to pressure me into doing something I did not want. I am praying for wisdom because I know this decision will affect my life forever. I just wish he would stand by me and take responsibility for the child we created together. For now, I am trying to remain strong and make a decision I can live with, regardless of what he chooses to do.

Is It Normal for a Man to Compare His Girlfriend to His Mother?

I'm in my first serious relationship, and something my boyfriend said has been disturbing me ever since. A few days ago, he made a post that read: "Men are more likely to fall in love with women who have similar behaviors to their mothers." Out of curiosity, I asked him, "If that's true, then which of your mum's qualities do you see in me?" Instead of answering the question, he started listing all the ways I'm not like his mum. He said whenever we have misunderstandings, I'm too quick to talk about ending the relationship. According to him, whenever he and his mum have issues, she can't sleep until they've settled it because she loves him too much. Then he said his mum is transparent with him. He admitted that I'm transparent too, but quickly added, "Not like my mum." He also claimed I don't make decisions on my own. When I asked him to give me examples, he couldn't mention even one. I asked him what exactly makes him think I'm not transparent. He said I hide my emotions, that I'm respectful but too stubborn, while his mum is humble and soft-hearted. Then he said something that really broke me. He looked at me and said, "I love my mum so much. I just hope that one day you'll become like her." I told him calmly that his mum and I are two completely different people. She's his mother, and I'm his partner. We don't play the same role in his life. I tell this man almost everything. I tell him how my day went, what I'm thinking, what I'm struggling with, my plans, my fears... things I don't even tell other people. If that's not transparency, then I honestly don't know what is. But he still insisted. He said, "Your heart is not as clear as my mum's. I can't read you the way I can read her." Since then, I haven't been myself. This is my first relationship, and I've genuinely given it my best. I love him deeply, but now I keep wondering if I'll always be competing with the image of his mother in his mind. I decided not to argue any further because I didn't want the conversation to become ugly. But the truth is... his words have stayed with me. Am I really expected to become another version of his mother before I'll ever be enough?

He Left Me With Our Child 13 Years Ago… Now I’m Pregnant For Him Again

13 YEARS AFTER HE ABANDONED ME, I GOT PREGNANT FOR HIM AGAIN I dated this man for about three years, roughly 13 years ago. During our relationship, I got pregnant and had a child for him. I genuinely believed he would marry me after I gave birth because that was what we had agreed. But shortly after I had our child, he somehow walked away from my life. I was devastated. I loved this man deeply, and watching him disappear after everything we had shared broke something inside me. My family was furious with him, but there was little they could do except insist that he take responsibility for the child. Eventually, he accepted responsibility—but only when he felt like it. For years, his involvement as a father was inconsistent. Sometimes he would show up, sometimes he wouldn't. I eventually learned to live my life without expecting anything from him. Then, three months ago, he suddenly called me. He said he wanted to see our son. Honestly, I wasn't comfortable with the idea. After everything that happened, I wondered why he was suddenly interested in coming back into our lives. But I also felt I had no right to stop a father from seeing his own child. So I allowed it. He visited once. Then again. By his third visit, something happened that I never expected. He spent the night with me. I don't even know how I allowed myself to become vulnerable to this man again. Maybe it was the memories. Maybe it was the feelings I thought I had buried years ago. Maybe a part of me still loved the man I once believed would be my husband. Whatever it was, I let my guard down. Now, thirteen years after our first child, I have discovered that I am pregnant for him again. When I told him, I expected him to be shocked, but I also hoped he would finally say, “This time, I'm not going anywhere.” Instead, he started dragging his feet. No serious commitment. No clear plans. No reassurance. Just silence and uncertainty. And honestly, I'm terrified. I'm not only worried about the pregnancy. I'm worried about my parents. What will they think when I tell them that after everything this man did 13 years ago, I somehow ended up pregnant for him again? Will they think I'm foolish? Will they say I didn't learn from my past? Will they ask me why I allowed the same man who abandoned me once to put me in this situation again? The worst part is that I don't even know whether I should give this man another chance. How do you give someone a second chance when they haven't even shown you that they deserve the first one? Should I wait and see if he finally becomes serious? Should I insist that he makes his intentions clear before I continue hoping for a relationship? Or should I accept that I may have to raise another child on my own and stop expecting anything from him? I am confused, ashamed, angry and scared all at the same time. I never imagined that after 13 years, the same man would come back into my life and leave me facing the exact situation I thought I had escaped forever. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Would you give this man another chance, or prepare yourself to raise your second child alone?

My Boyfriend Earns Well, But Spending Money on Me Feels Like Punishment

I came across Eucarl through a friend's WhatsApp status. I began reading the stories out of curiosity, but before I knew it, I was spending hours in the comment section because the experiences felt so real. Seeing how people offer advice without knowing one another gave me the courage to share my own situation. I would truly appreciate honest opinions, as I am unsure whether I am overreacting or if my feelings are valid. I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend for almost three years. He is a hardworking man with a stable job and earns well. My concern is not his financial capacity, but rather his extreme frugality, especially when it comes to me. Whenever we go out, he calculates everything down to the last naira. If the bill is ₦9,800, he will complain about how expensive the restaurant is, as though he was forced to choose it. At times, he even asks me to transfer my own share while we are still seated there. It is quite embarrassing. On my birthdays, I do not expect luxury gifts. Even something simple like a cake, flowers, or a thoughtful gesture would mean a lot to me. However, every year he tells me, “Birthdays are just ordinary days. Let’s not waste money.” Last December, I saved gradually from my salary and bought him a nice wristwatch because I wanted him to feel appreciated. He smiled, thanked me, and wore it immediately. On my own birthday a few months later, he sent me a WhatsApp message that simply read, “Happy birthday, my wife to be. God bless your new age.” That was all. Sometimes when I visit him, I buy food on my way because I know that if I don’t, he will say he was not planning to cook. If we are together and I mention something I like in a shop, he quickly says, “Don’t let social media pressure you into unnecessary spending.” Last month, NEPA disconnected the electricity in my apartment because I was unable to complete my bill after paying my younger brother’s school fees. I was not asking him to cover everything. I only asked if he could lend me ₦20,000, which I would repay after payday. He looked at me and said, “If I start solving your problems now, you will become dependent on me.” I cried all the way home. The painful part is that he spends on himself without hesitation. He recently bought a new phone worth over ₦800,000 because he felt he deserved an upgrade. He travels with his friends, buys expensive sneakers and perfumes, and never questions those expenses. Whenever I express how I feel, he says I am only interested in his money and that a good woman should not measure love by financial contribution. Now I find myself questioning everything. Is it truly too much to expect occasional gestures like buying food, remembering a birthday, or offering support during genuine hardship? He keeps insisting that this is who he is and that if I truly love him, I should accept him as he is. But deep down, I am afraid. If he is this reserved with me while we are still dating, what will happen if we get married? Am I being entitled, or am I ignoring a red flag because I am in love?

He Kept Changing His Mind About Our Relationship

Hi Eucarl Community, A friend of mine needs advice from our followers. She said her boyfriend has been acting differently for the past few days. Whenever she asks him what is wrong, he always says it's work-related stress. One day, he opened up to her and said he had a dream in which someone warned that the two of them should stay away from each other or it would not end well for them. He added that he told his sister about the dream, and she suggested they should break up so that peace would prevail. However, he said he didn't want to end the relationship because he loves her and wouldn't want her to think he had used her and dumped her. The lady suggested that they visit a man of God for prayers, but he refused, saying he doesn't want any third party involved in his affairs and that breaking up would be the perfect solution. He also said that even if they broke up, he would still be there for her. The lady became worried and restless because she was already dealing with some family issues. She would often wake up crying, and he would comfort her. One day, after she had been crying again, the guy told her that he would no longer break up with her. However, the following day, an argument broke out, and the lady asked him if he truly wanted the relationship. The guy replied that he no longer wanted the relationship. What should the lady do?

He Made Me Believe I Was Spiritually Cursed... Until I Discovered the Truth

U dated this man for one year and nine months, and if there's one thing I can say with confidence, it's that I genuinely loved him with everything I had. I saw a future with him, so whenever he said there was a problem, I believed we would face it together. One day, he came to me looking deeply troubled. He said a native doctor had revealed that I had a spiritual husband who was responsible for all the setbacks in his life. According to him, this spiritual husband was destroying his business, frustrating his progress, and standing against our relationship. He told me that if I truly loved him, I needed to visit the same native doctor and do whatever was required to separate myself from this spiritual husband. I was devastated. I had never heard anything like that before, but because I loved him and desperately wanted our relationship to work, I didn't argue. I believed him. At the time, I was working as a cleaner. My salary wasn't much, but I started saving every little amount I could. When my savings weren't enough, I borrowed money just to complete ₦200,000. Every naira mattered to me, yet I willingly spent it on the rituals, materials, and everything the native doctor demanded. I wasn't doing it because I believed in those things; I was doing it because I was terrified of losing the man I loved. I was willing to sacrifice everything to save what I thought was our future. After all the rituals and cleansing, things seemed normal again. Our relationship became peaceful, and I convinced myself that the sacrifice had worked. I felt relieved, believing I had finally defeated whatever was supposedly fighting us. Then, early this year, everything came crashing down. He called me and said there was another revelation. This time, he claimed we could never get married because my spiritual husband had blocked my womb and that I would never be able to conceive. Those words shattered me. I cried for days. I questioned my entire existence. I started imagining a future where I would never become a mother. The fear was unbearable because I believed every word he said. After everything I had already sacrificed, I couldn't understand why the problem still remained. Out of confusion and desperation, I called his mother because she already knew about everything that had happened. For more than three weeks, she spoke with me and tried to understand the situation. Then one day, she told me something that completely changed everything. She said her son never made any enquiry about my womb. She advised me to question him properly because something wasn't adding up. When I confronted him, the truth finally came out. He had lied. There was no revelation about me being unable to have children. He simply made it up. I cannot describe the pain I felt in that moment. It wasn't just the lie—it was the realization that someone I loved so deeply had manipulated my emotions, my faith, and my fears. He made me believe I was spiritually cursed. He made me spend money I didn't have. He watched me cry over a future he knew wasn't true. He allowed me to carry the weight of shame, fear, and hopelessness for something that never existed. Walking away from that relationship was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, but it also became the beginning of my healing. Today, I finally have peace. For the first time in a long time, I can breathe without feeling like I'm carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. But some wounds don't disappear overnight. Every now and then, memories of that relationship come flooding back. I remember the money I lost, the emotional trauma I endured, the sleepless nights, the endless tears, and the way I blamed myself for things that were never my fault. Whenever those memories return, my chest becomes heavy, and I find myself crying all over again. I still wonder how someone who claimed to love me could convince me that I was the source of his downfall, only to discover that it was all built on lies. I'm slowly healing, but I don't think I'll ever forget what that relationship did to me.

Should People Stop Telling Their Current Partner About Their Ex?

I honestly think people, especially women, should stop telling their current boyfriend every single detail about their ex. Sometimes, the past is better left where it belongs. A lot of people joke about it, but historical jealousy is real, especially with many men. One of my closest friends has been dating this amazing lady for seven months. Their relationship was peaceful. They barely argued, their chemistry was great, and he genuinely believed he had found the woman he wanted to spend his future with. Everything changed after one innocent conversation. He asked her about her past relationships, and because she wanted to be completely honest, she opened up. She told him she had only dated one man before him, and they were together for five years. She went further and shared how her ex treated her. She said he took her on trips, surprised her with gifts, paid some of her bills when she was struggling, celebrated every birthday in a big way, knew all her favorite meals, and even supported her through one of the hardest periods of her life. She admitted they had planned a future together before things eventually fell apart. She wasn't trying to make her ex look better. She was simply answering his questions honestly. But since that conversation, my friend hasn't been the same. He confessed to me that every time he looks at her, he keeps comparing himself to the other man. He wonders if she'll ever love him the way she loved her ex. He questions whether she's only with him because that relationship ended. The worst part is their intimate moments. He said the last time they were together, he couldn't stop imagining another man in his place. He kept thinking about the five years they shared, wondering how many memories they created, how many times they had been together, and whether he could ever measure up. Since then, he's been distant. He barely calls like he used to. He avoids intimacy. His feelings are slowly fading—not because she cheated, lied, or did anything wrong, but because his own mind won't let him move past what he now knows. Ironically, if she had never answered his question, they probably would still be perfectly happy today. So I'm curious... Do you think people should stop discussing their exes with their current partner unless it's absolutely necessary? And for the ladies, do you also get that same uncomfortable feeling when your boyfriend talks about his ex, or is this something men struggle with more? I'll be reading every comment because I genuinely want to know what advice to give my friend.

I Thought He Was a Yahoo Boy... Today He's My Husband

Good evening everyone. I just want to share my testimony because even now, it still feels like a dream. Back in 2023, I was in my final year at the polytechnic when a man started messaging me on Facebook. From the very beginning, he told me he liked me and that he wanted to marry me. The problem was that every conversation somehow ended with him talking about his expensive cars, beautiful houses, successful businesses, and comfortable lifestyle. To be honest, I immediately concluded he had to be a Yahoo boy. I couldn't imagine a genuinely successful person introducing himself that way. I blocked him several times, but each time he found another way to reach me with a different account. His persistence was unbelievable. One day, he begged me to meet him just once. I agreed, mostly because I wanted to expose him. I was convinced he had been lying all along. The day we met completely changed my perspective. Everything he had told me was true. He drove the car he had described, took me to his home, and even introduced me to his mother, who was one of the most humble and kind-hearted women I had ever met. Nothing about them matched the picture I had painted in my mind. Even after seeing all of that, I still turned him down. I told him I wasn't comfortable with his flashy lifestyle and that I preferred someone more simple. I thanked him for his honesty and asked him to move on. To my surprise, he became emotional. He told me he had spent years wondering whether anyone would ever love him without first seeing his wealth. According to him, many women chased him because of what he owned, but I was the first woman who rejected him even after discovering he was genuinely wealthy. He said that was exactly why he couldn't stop thinking about me. I still wasn't convinced, so I traveled to my village to clear my head. A few weeks later, he shocked everyone by coming to my village with members of his family to officially meet my parents. He respectfully asked for permission to court me properly. My parents were impressed by his humility, not his money. They encouraged me to give him a genuine chance before making a final decision. I prayed about it, took my time, and eventually agreed. That decision changed my life. We got married last year, and not for a single day have I regretted it. The man I once judged has turned out to be the most humble, patient, loving, and caring husband I could ever have prayed for. He has built a house for my parents, pays the school fees of my younger siblings without complaining, and treats me with so much love and respect that I thank God every day for opening my eyes. Looking back, I realize I almost missed one of God's biggest blessings because I judged someone based on my assumptions instead of his character. My advice to every woman is this: be careful not to judge people too quickly. While you should always be wise and protect yourself, don't allow assumptions alone to make every decision for you. Sometimes God's blessings come in packages we never expected. Please keep my marriage and my family in your prayers. May everyone trusting God for a good spouse receive their own beautiful testimony at the right time. Thank you, and God bless you all.

They May Have Broken Your Heart, But They Also Opened Your Eyes

Sometimes, the pain that breaks you is the very pain that awakens you. No one enters a relationship expecting to have their heart shattered. No one gives their love, trust, time, and vulnerability to another person believing they will become their greatest life lesson. We love because we hope. We trust because we believe. We invest because we imagine a future worth building together. So when the person you chose disappoints you, betrays your trust, or walks away, it can feel as though you've lost a part of yourself. The dreams you shared disappear. The plans you made no longer exist. The future you pictured suddenly becomes a memory of something that never happened. But sometimes, what you lost wasn't the person. Sometimes, what you lost was an illusion. The illusion that love alone is enough to sustain a relationship. The illusion that if you keep sacrificing, giving, forgiving, and understanding, someone will eventually value everything you do. The illusion that a person's potential matters more than their present character. Heartbreak has a painful way of stripping away every excuse we once made for someone. Before the pain, you overlooked the warning signs because you were focused on the moments that made you happy. You held onto promises while ignoring repeated patterns. You listened to beautiful words but failed to measure them against consistent actions. When the heart becomes deeply attached, the mind often turns into a lawyer, constantly defending what the eyes have been trying to prove all along. That is why heartbreak, as painful as it is, can become one of life's greatest teachers. It teaches you that love is not measured only by words, feelings, or grand gestures. Love is revealed through consistency, respect, honesty, commitment, and the way someone chooses to treat you every single day. It reminds you that respect is not something you should have to beg for. Loyalty is not something you should have to chase. Peace is not something you should sacrifice just to keep someone from leaving. One of the greatest dangers after heartbreak is allowing pain to turn into bitterness. Do not let one person's inability to love you well convince you that genuine love no longer exists. Not everyone will betray your trust. Not everyone will misuse your kindness. Not everyone will leave. Instead of allowing your pain to harden your heart, allow it to sharpen your wisdom. Keep your heart open, but keep your eyes open too. Never ignore repeated patterns because your emotions are attached. Never excuse disrespect because you're afraid of being alone. Never settle for emotional pain simply because you're holding onto memories of how beautiful things once were. Sometimes, the most painful truth is far healthier than the most comforting lie. And sometimes, the person who broke your heart unknowingly gave you one of the greatest gifts of your life. They forced you to meet yourself again. They exposed the places where your boundaries were weak. They revealed the standards you had lowered just to keep someone in your life. They uncovered wounds that needed healing long before they entered your story. Instead of asking only, "Why did they hurt me?" Ask yourself, "What did this experience teach me?" Every painful chapter carries a lesson for those willing to learn from it. Some people enter your life to walk beside you and help build your future. Others arrive to reveal the lessons you needed before you could step into your next season. Both serve a purpose. Both shape who you become. So yes, they may have broken your heart. But if that heartbreak opened your eyes, strengthened your character, deepened your wisdom, taught you self-respect, and reminded you of your worth, then your pain was not wasted. It prepared you for healthier relationships. It taught you to recognize red flags before they become regrets. It reminded you that self-worth should never be sacrificed in exchange for temporary affection. A broken heart is painful, but it is not the end of your story. Hearts heal. Confidence returns. Joy comes back. Love finds its way again. But the person who chooses to learn from their pain becomes something even more valuable than they were before. They become wiser without becoming colder. Stronger without becoming harder. More discerning without becoming judgmental. And far more difficult to deceive. Never regret loving sincerely. Simply learn to love wisely. Because sometimes, losing the wrong person is exactly what makes room for the right version of yourself to emerge. The heartbreak was never meant to destroy you. It was meant to transform you.

I Wanted to Be a Father, but My Family Had Other Plans

I'm a man in my early 30s, and I'm completely lost. I've been in a relationship with my girlfriend for over six years. She's kind, intelligent, and has stood by me through a lot. The only issue we've never been able to overcome is our intimacy. Our relationship has been rocky for years because of it. Late last year, I relocated from Abuja to Port Harcourt, where I met a 19-year-old lady. We spent a short time together, and she became pregnant. Surprisingly, I realized my heart was with her, and I wanted to take responsibility for both her and the baby. When I told my family, they strongly opposed me. They insisted I should forget about the pregnancy and marry my longtime girlfriend instead. The pressure became so intense that I had to leave Port Harcourt just to clear my head. I even approached the young lady's family to express my intention to keep the baby and do the right thing, but they were furious as well. Then, without my knowledge or consent, my father got involved, and the pregnancy was terminated. Since then, I've been heartbroken and confused. I don't know whether to return to my old relationship, fight for the woman I truly love, or simply walk away from everything. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

I Don't Even Know the Title for My Type of Pain

I really need to tell someone what happened because I've been carrying it around all day, and I honestly feel like crying every time I think about it. So there's this guy from my childhood. We were inseparable when we were kids. I had the biggest crush on him back then, and then life happened and we lost contact for over 17 years. When we reconnected recently, I realized those feelings had never really gone away. It felt like all the memories came rushing back for me. The sad part is that it seems like I'm the only one who still remembers how close we used to be. I was carrying all the nostalgia, while he barely remembered any of it. We started talking again, got close, and eventually slept together twice. Then we had a misunderstanding, he blocked me first and i did after. After almost 2months, he came looking for me, and we reconnected. At some point, he even asked if we could become a thing(that was when we had the first sex). At first I said no because I was trying to protect my heart, but over time I slowly started falling for him. Then he hit me with "take things slow." I kept asking what that actually meant because I wanted clarity, but I never really got a clear answer. Yesterday we both attended the same party. We didn't go together, but we knew we were going, we met there and everything seemed okay. After the party, I went to his place to take a shower because I didn't really have anywhere else to freshen up. He was actually the one who suggested I come over. While I was there, things became intimate. Before anything happened, I told him that I had a feeling my period might come. I wasn't sure it was just a feeling but I wanted him to know because I didn't want either of us to end up feeling bad. He asked if I knew for sure it would come that day. I told him no, I didn't know, I just had a feeling cause i have PCOS, people with it knows how period comes unannounced. He told me it was okay and that it was just the two of us, so I felt safe enough to let my guard down. We still used protection. We had barely been intimate for about two minutes when he stopped to check, and then he came back and told me my period had started. The moment he said that, everything changed. He became really quiet. The atmosphere completely changed. I went to the bathroom to clean myself up, and when I came back, my power bank, which had been in his bedroom, had already been moved to the sitting room. I can't explain why, but in that moment I just felt like I wasn't welcome anymore. I still walked up to him and apologized because I felt so embarrassed. Instead of comforting me, the next thing he said was, "You knew." That really hurt. I reminded him that I had literally told him beforehand that I only had a feeling my period might come. If I had known for sure, why would I have agreed to be intimate? I wasn't trying to deceive him. After that, he didn't really say much. I left without even saying goodbye because I felt so ashamed, he didn't escort or said goodbye either. Then, as I was leaving, another woman arrived in a car and walked toward his place. I honestly don't know who she was, so I'm not going to assume anything(eventually did), but after everything that had just happened, seeing that completely broke me emotionally. What hurts me is how embarrassed and rejected I felt afterward. If this exact thing had happened to one of my friends, I'd be the first person telling her, "It wasn't your fault." But for some reason, I can't believe those same words when they're meant for me. I've just been carrying this around all day, and I honestly don't know how to stop feeling so hurt.

I Took Him Back After He Cheated… Then He Married Her

I thought our love was unbreakable. We had been together for five years, and everything seemed perfect. We shared our dreams, supported each other through difficult times, and laughed together. I genuinely believed we would spend the rest of our lives together. Then one day, I discovered a text message on his phone that changed everything. It was a conversation with another woman, and from the messages, it was obvious they were more than just friends. I felt like my world had collapsed. When I confronted him, he admitted to the affair. He apologized, promised to end it, and begged me to give our relationship another chance. I wanted to believe him. For months, I convinced myself that we were healing and moving forward. I tried to rebuild the trust that had been broken. Then one day, while scrolling through social media, I saw something that shattered me all over again. It was a wedding photo. He had married the same woman. At that moment, I realized he had been lying to me the entire time. The pain was unbearable, but eventually I had no choice but to move on. It took a lot of tears, prayers, and support from loved ones, but I slowly began rebuilding my life. Looking back now, I realize I deserved better. The experience taught me the importance of self-worth and not ignoring red flags. Today, I am still single, but I remain hopeful that one day I will meet the right man and experience the kind of love that is honest, loyal, and genuine.

My Boyfriend Has Never Posted Me on His Social Media but Posts Other Girls

Hello everyone, I need your honest advice because this situation has been bothering me. I've been dating my boyfriend for two years, and throughout our relationship, he has never posted me on any of his social media platforms, especially his WhatsApp status. Whenever I asked about it, he would say he prefers to keep his relationship private. At first, I understood and didn't make a big deal out of it. The problem is that he regularly posts other girls. He often shares pictures of his female friends, wishes them happy birthdays, and sometimes writes sweet captions for them. Yesterday, he posted one particular girl again for her birthday. I tried to ignore it since it was her special day. But this morning, I woke up and discovered that he had changed his profile picture to a photo of that same girl. That really upset me. How can someone call me his girlfriend for two years, yet never post me once, while constantly posting other women who are supposedly just friends? When I confronted him about it, he said I was overreacting and making an issue out of nothing. He ended the call, and when I tried calling back, he refused to answer. Now I'm confused. Is he genuinely trying to keep our relationship private, or is he hiding me? Am I overthinking this situation, or are these valid concerns? Ladies and gentlemen, what would you do if you were in my shoes? I will be reading the comments. Thank you.

My Boyfriend and His Ex Are Still Very Close… Am I Overthinking?

My boyfriend and his ex-girlfriend are still in touch. She can call him at any time to ask for help, and he always agrees. I’ve complained about it several times, but he says they are not enemies and she just needs his help sometimes. He insists nothing is going on between them, but I honestly don’t feel comfortable with it, especially because I believe she still has feelings for him. When I bring it up, he tells me I’m overthinking and that I don’t trust him. He even said if I can’t trust him, I should leave the relationship. Now I feel confused and stuck. I don’t want to be insecure, but I also don’t want to ignore my feelings. What do you think I should do? Am I overthinking, or is this actually a red flag? I will be reading the comments. Thank you.

How My Last Relationship Ruined My Perception of Women

I still remember the day I met her. I was completely swept off my feet by her beauty and charm. I honestly thought I had found my soulmate. I gave that relationship everything—my time, emotions, and even my resources. I slowly drifted away from my friends and family because I believed she was all I needed. Then one day, it all came crashing down. She left me. I was devastated. I had never experienced that kind of pain before. That's when I realized I had lost myself trying to love someone else. I had neglected the people who truly cared about me and put all my happiness into one person. The heartbreak changed me. I started questioning my worth and found myself struggling to trust women again. I kept wondering if the relationship had been real or if I had been living a lie the whole time. It's been a while now, but the scars are still there. I find it difficult to open my heart to anyone because I'm afraid of getting hurt again. I've built walls around myself, and sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be able to trust and love the same way again. Has anyone ever gone through something similar? How did you learn to trust and move on after a painful breakup? I will be reading the comments. Thank you.

Caught Up in My Relationship: Should I Stay or Leave?

Good morning everyone, I need your honest advice. I've been with my partner for several years. On the outside, everything looks perfect, but deep down, I feel empty and unhappy. We barely have meaningful conversations anymore, and our relationship feels more like a routine than a real connection. I've been thinking about ending things, but I'm scared. Scared of being alone, scared of starting over, and scared of what people will say. Many people think I'm in a "good" relationship, so I'm wondering if I'd be making a mistake by walking away. Has anyone ever been in a situation like this? Did you stay and work things out, or did you leave and start over? Should I choose comfort and stability, or follow my heart even if the future is uncertain? I'll be reading the comments. Thank you.

I Secretly Monitor My Partner’s Phone—Am I Justified?

I never thought I’d be that type of person, but here I am, checking my partner’s phone when he’s not around. It began with a simple glance at what they were posting to WhatsApp while out of the room. It escalated to becoming a habit. I know their password now. I look at what they’re sending, Instagram messages, and what they’re searching for at night, even. We’ve been dating for three years. No red flags. No cheating. Just…this gut feeling I just can’t shake. Perhaps it’s my past. I have been cheated on once, and the deception almost destroyed me. So now, despite everything being okay, I keep probing—just in case. What’s worse is, I haven’t found anything. They’re kind, consistent, and loving. But still, I do it. I hate myself for it. It feels like I’m being disloyal to the trust I demand of them. But I also feel like I’m safeguarding myself—all I don’t want to do is get blindsided once again. Isn’t it trauma? Isn’t it insecurity? Or is it intuition? I don’t even know anymore. Has anybody else ever done this? Is sneaking a peek at your partner’s cell phone ever permissible—or am I going too far?

Having Trust Issues in My 5-Year Relationship — Should I Stay or Walk Away?

I honestly don't know how to start this, but something has been eating me up for years. I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for five years now, but I still struggle with trust issues because of something that happened at the beginning of our relationship. Back then, I discovered on her phone that she had accepted proposals from three different men, while at the same time turning me down once. Seeing those messages really hurt me. Despite what I found, I still chose to continue the relationship because I genuinely loved her and believed things could work out between us. However, ever since then, I have never been able to trust her completely. Anytime she goes out, my mind starts racing. I find myself wondering if she's meeting another guy or talking to someone else behind my back. Even when there is no evidence, the thoughts keep coming. The truth is that I am never fully at peace. What happened years ago still affects the way I see the relationship today. The problem is that I love her deeply, and because of that, I find it very difficult to end the relationship. At the same time, I don't know how much longer I can continue living with these doubts and suspicions. Five years is a long time, and sometimes I wonder if I should have moved on from what happened at the beginning. Other times, I feel that trust, once broken, is never truly the same again. Right now, I feel stuck between love and fear. I would really appreciate honest advice. Should I continue fighting for this relationship and try to rebuild trust, or is it a sign that I should let go and move on with my life? Have you ever stayed in a relationship after your trust was broken? How did it turn out? Please share your advice, I will be in the comments section.

How Do I Break Free From A Blood Oath?

During my secondary school days, I was deeply in love with my classmates. We were each other’s everything, she was my entire existence and our love was pure and true (so I had thought). We decided to make a path to love each other forever, We pricked our fingers and mixed our blood, sealing our promise to always be together and never to break that promises. But as we grew older, Life took a different turn. Her family relocated to another country and distance was definitely a barrier. At first we were pen friends for a while till we lost communication all of a sudden. I tried to move on, but I am finding it difficult. I felt bound to her, unable to shake the feeling that I was meant to be with her. I wasn’t able to start, keep nor maintain a healthy relationship. During my University days I was in few relationships that all ended badly. Years passed, and I struggled to form meaningful relationships. She was all I think about and most times I feel I am cheating on her whenever I am in a new relationship , even though we hadn’t spoken in years. The guilt and shame consumed me. I became withdrawn and isolated, unable to escape the torment of the promise and oath we took back in secondary school Out of the blues, our path crossed again, seeing her brought a feeling of warmth I never felt since her departure. I thought it was fate at work, till she told me she was getting married, and she wanted me to come to her wedding. I was torn between my loyalty to our oath and my desire to move on. I ended up attending the wedding, and it was a painful reminder of what could have been. After that, I realized that I needed to break free from the oath. I tried dating again but still encountered the same issues…. I will call and message her constantly even in her marital home. Eventually we connected and started dating again even though she was married. It went on for 8 years till she broke it off citing she wants to focus on her marriage. Right now I’m in horrific pains.. I don’t know what to do, she and her husband have just one child who is 4 years old that I constantly feel is mine. I confronted her recently about the child because he looks just like me. Please I need advice, what should I do at this point? I am still in love with her. Secondly, we both took the oath, why am I the only one feeling the negative effect.

My Girlfriend's Body Count Bothers Me

My girlfriend of 2 years that I have made plans to marry in few months time just opened up about her body count and it’s bothering me, can’t get it out of my head. We’ve made wedding plans but over the weekend we were talking, I asked her what’s her body count, it was just a harmless question, I didn’t plan to ask but one thing lead to another and I asked, she casually said 5. I know her and I know when she is lieing , I knew she wasn’t completely honest to I asked again and assured her her past won’t change my mind about my decision of settling down with her, after all our wedding plans have been finalised, it’s just a matter of the date and time to come. She paused for a while then she opened up, her body count was 67, she remembers the names of the men, the year, date and time. I was shocked…. 67! What!! Even as a man I haven’t slept with 67 ladies. It has been in my head since, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t even look her on the eyes like I used to. I am not and over thinker, but I have been thinking about this… 67 men, that means she must have had s*x more than 200 times or more. Please, someone should talk me out of this before I go crazy… I love her I can’t even think of leaving her, but this is stuck in my head. Help me guys

I Lied About Being A Virgin, Now He Wants To Marry Me

I meet this guy online sometime last year, we started talking, eventually we became fond of each other. We talk for hours on the phone and we are always texting. One day we were talking dirty then I jokingly told him I am a virgin. I never knew he took it seriously, all I knew was his attention and care for me tripled. He became even sweeter. In June, he lost his uncle, he came back this month for the burial and he wants to take me along for the burial and also introduce me to his family and then come to see my parents so we can start making wedding plans. I asked why he wants to marry me and he said “it’s hard to see women like me that still keeps themselves” oh!, I am in trouble. I am not a virgin, infact I have two kids already. Whenever I tell my male acquaintances about having two kids, they disappear, now I told him I am a virgin, he wants to marry me. I don’t know how to tell him, I tried getting him to have s*x with me so he will realise but he said he would want us to wait till after our wedding. Please help me guys, what do I do ? I don’t want to loose him, he has done so much for me and I know he loves me, I don’t want to break his heart, he is a good man. How best do you think I should approach this?

In a Situation With My Neighbour: How Do I Get My ₦50k Back?

I’m currently in a confusing situation with my neighbour and I need some advice. There’s a lady in my compound who lives alone and should be in her late 20s. I also stay alone, although my girlfriend comes around occasionally. We’re not particularly close; we only exchange greetings whenever we see each other. A few months ago, she approached me for a loan of ₦50,000, saying she had an emergency and would repay it the following week. She asked for my account details and phone number so she could send the money back and notify me once the transfer was made. Later that same evening, after collecting the money, she started messaging me on WhatsApp. Her first message was, “Thanks for coming through for me, hun.” The next day, she sent me a revealing photo of herself. Shortly after noticing that I had viewed it, she deleted it and claimed it was sent by mistake. After that, she continued texting me regularly, often using pet names like “hun,” “dear,” “boo,” and “babes.” The promised repayment date came and went without any mention of my money. Instead, she sent another revealing photo and deleted it again shortly after I viewed it. I chose not to react. By the fourth week, I asked about the loan. She apologized and said she would pay me the following week. The next day, she brought over some food, saying she had cooked and wanted to share it with me. I thanked her but didn’t eat it. A day later, around 9 p.m., she knocked on my door and said she needed help with something on her phone. While I was checking it, she mentioned that mosquitoes were disturbing her and asked if she could step inside. I agreed. Once inside, she began making romantic advances towards me. I immediately made it clear that I wasn’t interested and politely asked her to leave. Since then, she has continued sending messages, expressing strong feelings for me and occasionally sending inappropriate photos. It has now been over four months, and she still hasn’t paid back the ₦50,000 she borrowed. At this point, I’m genuinely confused. Does she actually like me, or is she trying to avoid repaying the money by using attraction as a distraction? I’m not interested in pursuing anything with her, and my priority is simply getting my money back. What would you do in my situation?

I Thought She Was Different Until I Tested Positive for HIV

A year ago, I got stuck in traffic and noticed a lady selling by the roadside. We got talking, I liked her, and before long we started dating. She seemed like a decent, hardworking girl. Because of that, it never crossed my mind to protect myself whenever we got intimate. A few months later, I noticed something was wrong. I started feeling pain and irritation, so I went to the hospital. The doctor diagnosed me with gonorrhea and gave me treatment. When I told a friend what happened, he asked if I had also tested for HIV. I laughed and said, "How can she have HIV?" But he insisted. I went back for the test. Positive. My whole world stopped. I immediately called the girl. She swore she was clean and didn't have any infection. To clear things up, I took her for a test too. She was also HIV positive. As if that wasn't enough, she then revealed she was pregnant and claimed the baby was mine. That's when another shock landed. She already had a 6-year-old child she never told me about. Now she's saying I gave her the HIV, she's refusing to terminate the pregnancy, and somehow I'm expected to take responsibility for her, the unborn baby, and her first child. My rent is about to expire. I'm mentally exhausted and ashamed of how quickly my life changed. Sometimes I just feel like disappearing and starting over somewhere else. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I'm currently in Kumasi, Ghana.

I regret telling my boyfriend about my past

Recently, I told my boyfriend about my past and he has been acting distant. He no longer cares about me, it’s so glaring, he no longer take me or anything about me serious. He cancelled most of our plans for the holiday. As if that wasn’t enough, I had a minor accident that took me to the hospital and he didn’t even cared to come see me. Is it wrong to have opened up about my past relationships to my boyfriend? Just so you know, my past is not even as bad compared to his. Please what do you advise I do? I still love him and want him.

Why do I keep feeling misunderstood in my relationship?

Sometimes I try to explain myself, but it feels like no one really gets me. I don’t know if it’s me or them, but I need to share how I feel and hear if others have gone through the same confusion and pain.
