SHOULD I CHOOSE SIX YEARS OF LOVE OR MY DREAM OF BECOMING A FATHER?
I'm 36. My girlfriend is 33. We've been together six years, and I've never hidden the fact that I want to be a father. It's the one thing I've always looked forward to. We've been trying for a baby, and nothing. What hurts is that she doesn't seem bothered at all. Every time I bring up seeing a specialist, she changes the subject. Her periods have never been regular. Some years she didn't see them at all. Sometimes she misses it even when we haven't touched each other. I've told her this isn't normal and we should go to the hospital, but she just says, "God will do it." I've done my own part. I went for hospital checks and even consulted traditional people. In 2022, I was told I was fine. I know things can change, and I'm ready to go again if needed. But I'm the only one fighting here. And I'm 36. Every time I see my mates posting their children, something in my chest sinks. Lately, I've caught myself thinking about leaving and finding a younger woman who can give me a child. Then guilt hits me. Six years is not small. She's not a bad person. We're both financially okay, so this isn't about money. It's about the family I've always wanted. If we were both going to hospitals and chasing answers together, I'd stay and fight to the end. But I can't keep carrying this alone. I don't want to waste her time, and I don't want to waste mine. But I also don't want to make a decision I'll regret when I'm 45. So tell me honestly: am I wrong for wanting to move on? Should I choose the woman I love, or the dream I've held all my life? Ladies and gentlemen, I'm listening. Be honest with me. ๐
