Love or Stability... Should I Marry the Man I Love or the Man Who Can Provide?
I have been with my boyfriend for five years. I am 29 years old, and he is 33. If you asked anyone who knows him, they would tell you he is a good man. He is faithful. He doesn't drink or smoke. He treats me with so much love and respect that my friends often tell me I'm lucky. His family has accepted me completely. His mother even introduces me as her daughter. On paper, he is everything a woman could pray for. But there is one problem that has slowly become impossible for me to ignore. He cannot seem to find financial stability. Over the last three years, he has changed jobs four different times. Every time he resigns, there is a reason. One boss was too disrespectful. Another salary was too small. Another workplace was too toxic. According to him, every job has failed to meet the standards he believes he deserves. The painful part is that he is not uneducated or lazy. He studied Accounting and even earned a professional qualification. He is intelligent, hardworking, and capable. Yet he constantly believes every opportunity is beneath him. While he keeps searching for the "right" opportunity, life has not stopped. Almost every financial responsibility has fallen on me. I run a small provisions store. It isn't a big business, but it has become the only thing keeping us afloat. My business pays our rent, buys food, settles bills, and handles emergencies. Sometimes I lie awake at night wondering how I ended up carrying the weight of two adults. Whenever I suggest that he temporarily accept a smaller job while continuing to search for something better, he gets upset. He says I am undermining him and that I don't understand his value. He always says, "I know my worth." But what is the value of knowing your worth if you cannot build a stable life? Five years have passed, yet we are no closer to marriage than we were when we first started dating. There have been no serious discussions about paying my bride price or building a future together because financially, he simply isn't ready. Lately, I have started asking myself questions that make me feel guilty. How long am I supposed to keep waiting? How many more years should I continue carrying this burden alone? Recently, another man came into the picture. He is 45 years old, a civil servant with a stable income and his own house. He has made his intentions very clear. He wants to marry me. He has promised to support my business, provide a comfortable life, and even help my family whenever they are in need. Any woman looking from the outside would probably tell me the choice is obvious. But it isn't. Because I don't love him. I don't feel excited when I see him. I don't miss him when he is gone. I don't picture my future with him. My heart still belongs to the man I have loved for the past five years. That is what is tearing me apart. Do I stay with the man I genuinely love, hoping that one day everything will finally work out? Or do I walk away from the man who owns my heart and marry someone who can give me financial security, stability, and the future I have always dreamed of? I am terrified of making the wrong decision. I fear leaving my boyfriend and spending the rest of my life regretting losing a genuinely kind man. But I also fear staying... only to wake up at 35, unmarried, with no children, emotionally exhausted, and wondering where all my best years went. Please, I need sincere advice.
