I Wanted to Be a Father, but My Family Had Other Plans
I'm a man in my early 30s, and I'm completely lost. I've been in a relationship with my girlfriend for over six years. She's kind, intelligent, and has stood by me through a lot. The only issue we've never been able to overcome is our intimacy. Our relationship has been rocky for years because of it. Late last year, I relocated from Abuja to Port Harcourt, where I met a 19-year-old lady. We spent a short time together, and she became pregnant. Surprisingly, I realized my heart was with her, and I wanted to take responsibility for both her and the baby. When I told my family, they strongly opposed me. They insisted I should forget about the pregnancy and marry my longtime girlfriend instead. The pressure became so intense that I had to leave Port Harcourt just to clear my head. I even approached the young lady's family to express my intention to keep the baby and do the right thing, but they were furious as well. Then, without my knowledge or consent, my father got involved, and the pregnancy was terminated. Since then, I've been heartbroken and confused. I don't know whether to return to my old relationship, fight for the woman I truly love, or simply walk away from everything. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
