I Opened My Husband's Second Phone... I Wish I Never Did
If somebody had told me a year ago that one phone would completely change my marriage, I would have laughed. My husband and I have been married for six years. We have two children together. Like every marriage, we've had our ups and downs, but I honestly believed we were happy. I trusted this man with my life. One Saturday morning, he was rushing out for a meeting. Just as he entered the car, he shouted from outside, "Babe, abeg help me bring my charger from the glove compartment." I picked up the car key and went outside. I opened the glove compartment but didn't see any charger. As I was about to close it, I noticed another phone tucked inside an old nylon bag. At first, I smiled. I thought maybe it was one of his old phones. I picked it up. To my surprise... It was switched on. I don't know what came over me, but I unlocked it. The password? Our wedding date. My heart skipped. The moment the phone opened, WhatsApp was already displaying a new message. It simply read, "I miss you already. Last night was amazing. ❤️" I froze. I told myself there had to be an explanation. Maybe it was an old message. Maybe someone sent it to the wrong number. I opened the chat. That was my biggest mistake. There were hundreds of messages. Photos. Voice notes. Plans for weekends together. Pet names I had never heard before. The painful part wasn't even that he was cheating. It was that he had created another life. He called her "my wife." She called my children "those kids." She was asking when he would finally leave me. As I kept scrolling, my hands started shaking. Then I saw something that completely broke me. A screenshot of my own Facebook profile. She had sent it to him and wrote, **"Is this the woman you're still living with?"** He replied, "Just be patient. Everything will soon be settled." I couldn't breathe. This wasn't just an affair. This was a future they had already planned without me. I quietly put the phone back where I found it. I didn't confront him. I didn't cry. I just sat in the house pretending everything was normal while my heart was breaking inside. It's been four days now. He has no idea I know. Every morning he kisses me goodbye before leaving for work. Every night he tells me he loves me. And every time I hear those words... I remember what's inside that second phone. I haven't told anyone. Not even my family. Should I confront him? Or should I keep quiet and gather more evidence first?
Or should I keep quiet and gather more evidence first?
