Is It Right for My Mother-in-Law to Wash My Clothes?
Good day, house. Please, I need your opinion on this. My wife gave birth to our first child last month through a C-section. Immediately after the delivery, my mother-in-law came for Omugwo, as our tradition demands. She has been incredibly helpful. She cooks, keeps the house clean, and even washes all the clothes in the house, including mine. The problem is that I'm not comfortable with her washing my clothes. I jokingly told her to skip mine and let me wash them myself or take them to the dry cleaners, but she didn't stop. I also spoke to my wife about it, and she said her mother is doing it willingly and doesn't see anything wrong with it. Still, I don't feel right about it. I even started piling my clothes so I could wash them myself on Saturdays, but whenever I get home, she has already washed everything. I honestly don't know how to make her stop without seeming ungrateful or disrespectful. So, I want to ask: Is it okay for a mother-in-law to wash her son-in-law's clothes during Omugwo? Has anyone ever been in a similar situation, and how did you handle it? I will be reading the comments. Thank you.
