My cousin keeps posting her wins on my big days. Am I overthinking?
I have a cousin I'm very close to. We grew up like twins. Our mothers are sisters, and she's two years older than me. My mum is a single parent with no steady income, and my aunty (her mum) has always stood by us. I'm 26 now, and I trust my cousin with everything. She's someone I look up to, and she's always been my inspiration. ❤️ Last year, on the morning of my traditional marriage (introduction), she started posting her white wedding pictures on Facebook and her WhatsApp status. She even wrote about how beautiful and successful her wedding was. I remember thinking, "Why today, of all days?" But I told myself I was probably being paranoid. 🤔🙃 Then it happened again. Yesterday was my convocation, and she posted her own graduation pictures on Facebook and WhatsApp, announcing that she's a graduate and a car owner. She listed all her achievements, including her job title, like she was saying, "Mine is bigger." I honestly don't know how to feel anymore. 💔 It feels like whenever something good happens for me, she finds a way to remind everyone, and me, that she has done more. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the timing makes me uncomfortable. Is it possible she doesn't want to see me doing better than her? Or am I just insecure and overthinking? The hard part is that I love her and have always looked up to her. I don't want to cause wahala between us, but I don't like this energy either. What would you do in my place? Ignore it, create a little distance, or sit her down and talk? 💔
