I Secretly Regret Helping My Younger Brother
I know this will probably make me sound like a terrible person, but I need to get this off my chest. A few years ago, my younger brother lost his job. He had a wife, two kids, and was struggling badly. I was doing fairly okay financially, so I stepped in. I paid his rent, settled some debts, bought food for his family, and even helped him start a small business. At first, he was grateful. He called me every day and promised he would never forget what I did for him. But as time went on, things changed. The business started doing well, and suddenly I became the "rich sibling" who could solve every problem. Every school fee, hospital bill, and family emergency somehow became my responsibility. If I said no, I was accused of being selfish and reminded of how "God blessed me more." The worst part is that he now acts like I owe him. He rarely says thank you anymore and gets upset whenever I can't help. Sometimes I avoid his calls because I know it's going to be another request for money. I genuinely love my brother and his family, but I feel used and emotionally exhausted. I miss the relationship we had before money got involved. Am I a bad person for regretting helping him and wanting to start saying no?
