MY DAD CALLED ME DISGUSTING AND SAID HE’S ASHAMED OF ME

I honestly don’t know how to feel right now. My dad looked at me today and called me “disgusting.” He said he was ashamed of me and that whenever he looks at me, he feels like throwing up. Then he told me something I can’t get out of my head: “You’re going to be a failure in life.” I know I’m not perfect. I struggle with motivation. Sometimes I procrastinate badly. There are days when I have plans to get things done but somehow I just can’t bring myself to do them. My confidence is also very low, and I’m constantly fighting with myself to become better. But does that make me a terrible person? I’m still trying to figure myself out. I’m still growing. I’m supposed to be entering adulthood with confidence, hope and a plan for my future, but lately I feel like I’m going in the complete opposite direction. The worst part is that I don’t even need much. I just want the people closest to me to encourage me sometimes. To tell me, “You can do this.” To remind me that struggling today doesn’t mean I’ll struggle forever. Instead, I feel like the people who are supposed to believe in me already see me as a disappointment. Maybe that’s why I’m so scared of my future now. What if my dad is right? What if I really do end up becoming a failure? I’m trying so hard not to believe that, but hearing those words from your own parent can really mess with your head. Has anyone ever been made to feel like a failure by their own family, only to eventually prove them wrong?
