IF MY BEST FRIEND CAN BETRAY HER OWN MOTHER, WHAT MAKES ME THINK SHE WON'T BETRAY ME?

I'm 22, and my best friend is also 22. We've been through everything together: the late-night gist, the heartbreaks, the secrets nobody else knows. If I call her at 2am, she picks up. I love her like a sister. But lately I've been asking myself a question that's keeping me awake: if she can do this to her own mother, what am I to her? We attend the same school. Almost every day, her stepdad, a 42-year-old man, would show up with lunch from Chicken Republic or Genesis snacks. Sometimes when she came to my place, he would bring drinks and food for both of us. Once, he took us to Lekki for a weekend and paid for everything. Then she told me they were actually dating. She said they had a "special connection" and that she loved him. I was shocked, but over time I just got used to it. Because I knew, she started spoiling me. If she bought one wig or one pair of shoes, she bought two. She had other boyfriends, but anytime she was in real need or real trouble, it was the stepdad she called. Then she started feeling unwell and missed her period. She admitted he was the only one she was being careless with. We bought a test, and it came out positive. She called him right away, and he told her not to worry, that they were in it together. She kept the baby, who is now two years old. She told her mother the baby's father wasn't involved but was sending money for the child's upkeep. Her mother, a nurse, believed her, and she's been helping to raise the child ever since. This is the part I can't stomach. My friend pushed her stepdad to leave her mother. The woman is about 40, and she was left heartbroken. Her husband packed out with no explanation, and my friend herself told me how badly her mother was crying. Then she lied again, telling her mother she'd gotten a job in Abuja. So now the poor woman is at home taking care of the baby while her daughter is living with her husband. πŸ˜” Now I feel like a bad person for sitting quietly through all of this and still calling this girl my best friend. I love her, and our history is long, but I don't know what to feel anymore. Should I tell her mother the truth, even if it destroys my friendship? Or should I cut her off quietly and stay out of it because it isn't my business? Please, Eucarl family, what would you do in my shoes? πŸ€”πŸ’”
